The trick with connecting to QuickBooks is that the browser used to access Finagraph or BBC Easy must be running on the same computer that is running QuickBooks. When you click the Link button our Financial Linker searches through the processes running on your computer for the QuickBooks process (QBW32.exe) so that we can communicate with the program. In some hosted environment this communication can be blocked by the method of the hosting.
We support "private server" hosted environments completely. In those type of environments you simply need to connect to your hosted server and then open QuickBooks and your browser from within that private server.
Where things become more difficult are with shared server environments where QuickBooks is running on a remote server and a separate application opens a tunnel to only access QuickBooks. In that environment, QBW32.exe is not actually running on the local machine so the Finagraph Financial Linker is unable to communicate with QuickBooks. If you are able to open Internet Explorer through the hosting site along side the QuickBooks, it's possible that the two can communicate to each other. If that option is not available, you may need to export a portable copy of that QB file and import it locally in order to connect.
We have many clients using Finagraph and BBC Easy in a hosted environment. Please reach out to the support team at your hosting provider to grant you permission to run a new application. If you have any questions please contact our support team for help communicating with your hosting provider.
Our hosting partners that we work with include, but are not limited to: Right Networks, Insyncq, Qutera.
